It was wonderful to see so many people at our Staff Celebration at the Saatchi Gallery on 29 October. I'm sure you will agree how splendid the venue was and how special it was to spend an evening together with staff from all five campuses. The atmosphere was lively and felt truly celebratory, and I hope staff were able to meet familiar and not so familiar colleagues from across the University. It was an important moment in our journey to becoming an even stronger creative community.
A big thank you must go to our Marketing and Communications Department for arranging and ensuring that all went smoothly on the night.
The Saatchi Gallery, and its fascinating collection was a great setting for the launch of Britain's first creative arts university. I hope that the world at large will continue to see our institution as the source for creative expertise across all of our fields. We should be the first port of call for industry, potential students, and media who are interested in the creative arts.
The first way to achieving that status is by ensuring that we value ourselves and our combined talent as an institution. Celebrating together is an important part of this process, that means sharing a pride in the journey that we've made, and recognising the tremendous contribution that we can continue to make to our society. Our objective now must be to focus on how we can further improve and develop the service that we offer to our students and the wider community.
As I hope the latest round of staff roadshows has shown, we are a university looking forward to strengthen its position and reputation in the months and years to come. With University title, now firmly a rite of passage in our heritage and history, we can look forward to building that creative community together. That is our next great challenge, and one which I am sure will reap many benefits for us all.
